Excellent experience with doing my open HR with Michelle and John as trainers. Lessons were always informative and a very good environment, especially working around my 2/1 fifo roster. I was always giving positive encouragement and never made to feel awkward or bad during the learning process which is a massive help to morale and confidence! I have finished feeling a much better driver and competent to be on the roads not just competent to pass a test! Will be back to learn more in time about more aspects about the truck after passing my license! Thanks to everyone at Cairns truck school!!

Age did not matter, there was 4 other young people in with me on the day. Did HR fork course today with John Found John to be very easy n non intimidating . Made me & my co-worker relaxed and talked thru the theory well and corrected / refined our answers plus couple of helpful phases for remembering plus more refined way of answering couple questions rather than our long worded answer Fork assessment - quite good and helpful in answering any query and clarified when asked for . Gave a few helpful hints / tips for future use Easy to work with 5 stars

Chris Bellair was my instucter,he was a good guy to spend a couple of hours with in the cab. Gave clear instuction on what needed to be done right, Gave credit on what I was doing right and correct what I was doing wrong. Got a Pass on my first attempt.

I was instructed by Joe Stewart for my HR license, after driving an MR truck for 40+ years. He did a 2-hour refresher course with me prior to my HR Practical Exam, with Queensland Transport. He bashed all the bad habits out of me very promptly, and reassured me, my practical exam would be fine. I didn't realize how much we forget, and the bad habits that encroach in. I thoroughly enjoyed his banter, and as much as he was tough, he made me feel very comfortable through the whole lesson. Highly recommend these guys! Thanks again.

Highly recommend Cairns Truck School. I was extremely nervous but Joe was a calm, cool and collective type of trainer and made me feel supported and comfortable. Even though I had convinced myself I wasn't passing, due to Joe's training I passed with flying colours!!!! Went in for my HR Synchro licence expecting a calm, gentle instructor… Instead, I was greeted by a bloke who looks like he could wrestle a road train into submission before breakfast — complete with a beard that deserves its own licence class. I won’t lie, first impression was mildly terrifying. Second impression? Absolute legend. Behind the intimidating exterior is one of the most knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely brilliant trainers I’ve met. Decades of real-world trucking experience, no ego, no nonsense — just clear instructions, calm guidance, and a wicked sense of humour that puts you at ease pretty quickly. Everything was explained in a way that actually made sense, especially the synchro work, and nothing felt rushed or overwhelming. You can tell these trainers aren’t just teaching to get you through a test — they’re teaching you how to be a safe, competent truck driver. Big shout-out to John for the old-school truckie wisdom, the dry humour, and the beard that strikes fear into gearboxes everywhere. Passed my HR and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you want top-tier training from blokes who’ve truly lived it — this is the place. Highly recommend… even if they look like they could yell at clouds ????

I've used Cairns Truck School numerous times before, both for doing courses for my own mining career, and have also sent 2 of my own business's employees there to do their HR Truck Licences. I've always found them to be very accommodating, and prompt with their responses to requests. During the courses, the trainers are very knowledgeable, articulate and get their message across very well. I thoroughly recommend them, and will no doubt be using them in the future. Nice one guys!

I would like to provide my feedback on the forklift training program I participated in. Throughout the course, the training materials were delivered in a complete and well-organized way. The sessions covered operator safety and environmental safety, detailed explanations of forklift components, and the proper actions to take in the event of unexpected incidents. The instructor presented the material very clearly during the classroom sessions, and all topics were successfully covered within the two-day training period. During the practical training, the instructor demonstrated the correct operating procedures, beginning with a pre-operation inspection of the forklift. This was followed by clear guidance on how to drive the forklift correctly and transport pallets safely. The explanations were step-by-step and easy to understand, which made the practical session effective and engaging. Overall, the training was well-structured and highly beneficial. I appreciate the instructor’s professionalism and the effort of the training team. This course has increased my understanding and confidence in operating a forklift safely and responsibly.
