She also treated me as a competent and capable individual and acknowledged my prior skills. This helped lift my confidence and allowed me to successfully gain my MR licence. Highly recommend Cairns Truck School. I was extremely nervous but Joe was a calm, cool and collective type of trainer and made me feel supported and comfortable. Even though I had convinced myself I wasn't passing, due to Joe's training I passed with flying colours!!!! I think it was Matt Evangels excellent tutelage that I enjoyed the most. His unique way of teaching and having us all remember certain aspects of the course is what made this course so successful not only to me but to everyone in our class. You must congratulate him for our success not us as we were only the puppets, he was the puppet master.

Went in for my HR Synchro licence expecting a calm, gentle instructor… Instead, I was greeted by a bloke who looks like he could wrestle a road train into submission before breakfast — complete with a beard that deserves its own licence class. I won’t lie, first impression was mildly terrifying. Second impression? Absolute legend. Behind the intimidating exterior is one of the most knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely brilliant trainers I’ve met. Decades of real-world trucking experience, no ego, no nonsense — just clear instructions, calm guidance, and a wicked sense of humour that puts you at ease pretty quickly. Everything was explained in a way that actually made sense, especially the synchro work, and nothing felt rushed or overwhelming. You can tell these trainers aren’t just teaching to get you through a test — they’re teaching you how to be a safe, competent truck driver. Big shout-out to John for the old-school truckie wisdom, the dry humour, and the beard that strikes fear into gearboxes everywhere. Passed my HR and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you want top-tier training from blokes who’ve truly lived it — this is the place. Highly recommend… even if they look like they could yell at clouds ????

I've used Cairns Truck School numerous times before, both for doing courses for my own mining career, and have also sent 2 of my own business's employees there to do their HR Truck Licences. I've always found them to be very accommodating, and prompt with their responses to requests. During the courses, the trainers are very knowledgeable, articulate and get their message across very well. I thoroughly recommend them, and will no doubt be using them in the future. Nice one guys!

I would like to provide my feedback on the forklift training program I participated in. Throughout the course, the training materials were delivered in a complete and well-organized way. The sessions covered operator safety and environmental safety, detailed explanations of forklift components, and the proper actions to take in the event of unexpected incidents. The instructor presented the material very clearly during the classroom sessions, and all topics were successfully covered within the two-day training period. During the practical training, the instructor demonstrated the correct operating procedures, beginning with a pre-operation inspection of the forklift. This was followed by clear guidance on how to drive the forklift correctly and transport pallets safely. The explanations were step-by-step and easy to understand, which made the practical session effective and engaging. Overall, the training was well-structured and highly beneficial. I appreciate the instructor’s professionalism and the effort of the training team. This course has increased my understanding and confidence in operating a forklift safely and responsibly.

I very much enjoyed the tuition from Joe! We went through all the things I needed to know and practise. I appreciated that he reminded me to eat and visit the ladies (lol, I was too focused!), he kept track of time and escorted me through TMR, talking me through all the steps. Highly recommended :-)

Couldnt fault Dean at all - very helpful and a great instructor. Took the time to make sure I understood what I needed for the test and in driving in general to clean up some bad habits. He made me feel comfortable and was easy to speak to which made the 4 hours of driving really good. He took the time to explain the manoeuvres and what was required in a way that made it easy to understand.

He is very skilled at what he does and explains everything in a simple and clear way, making it easy to understand what’s needed to safely operate the forklift. Ian was supportive and frank during both the theory examination and the practical, I could see, as I expected that if the work had been put into the study for this course and appropriate commitment to the practical aspect then a pass was to be highly likely, the key is doing both of those things.
