If you have completed RIIWHS202E Enter and Work in Confined Spaces training within the last 5 years and maintained relevent skills and competency you are eligible to complete this 100% online refresher.

To complete this course you will require:

  • Good understanding of English (reading and writing),
  • Basic mathematics
  • Provide a copy of your VET Transcript complete with QR Code listing either RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights  issued within the past 5 years. To download your VET transcript, go to the USI Student Portal and follow the instructions.
  • An RTO issued previous Statement of Attainment listing the work safely at heights competency that is less than 5 years old or lists the unit RIIWHS204E.
  • Please note we will not accept wallet cards as previous evidence

Course overview

This nationally recognised training course gives participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently work in or around confined spaces.

Confined spaces are commonly found in tanks, ducts, flues, chimneys, containers or other similar enclosed or partially enclosed structures. They pose dangers because they are usually not designed to be areas where people work. On completion participants will be able to competently understand and perform:  

  • Legislations and standards applicable to enter and work in confined spaces
  • Risk management, control procedures and planning work
  • Entry permits
  • Gas detection
  • Equipment inspection
  • Enter and work in the confined space
  • Exit confined space
  • Clean up

Entry requirements

  • Students must be minimum 17 years of age
  • Provide primary proof of PHOTO identification that includes name, date of birth and signature
  • Provide a copy of your VET Transcript complete with QR Code listing either RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights  issued within the past 5 years. Refer VET Transcript section below for further instructions

What is Required to Complete the course?

  • Photo ID - Drivers Licence or Passport.
  • Computer,tablet, smart phone or similar) with:
    • A web-cam
    • Good internet connection
  • Access to printer & ability to scan or take photo of practice sheets to upload
  • Do NOT use Microsoft Edge browser - only use Chrome or Firefox or safari if using an IPAD.
  • You must have Windows seven or later installed on computer
  • Ensure that any firewall permissions/restrictions have been adjusted/given to ensure that your webcam and microphone are working.
  • All uploaded files will need to be in either .jpeg / .jpg / .png / .pdf / .docx format

  • This is a self-paced, self-managed course. There are no face-to-face or scheduled teaching sessions.
