LR Bus/Truck Licence

LR - Light Rigid

  • Drive a truck, van or a bus over 4.5t GVM but equal/less than 8t GVM, or over 4.0t GVM but equal/less than 8t GVM with a maximum of 2 axles.
  • You may carry more than 12 seated adults (including yourself).

Eligibility

  • Hold your car licence (min. Red Plates) for a period of 12 months before upgrading to LR/MR licence.
  • Complete the Heavy Vehicle theory test with Qld Transport, which can be done on the day of your practical driving test.

Medical Conditions

If you have any of the conditions below you will need a obtain a medical certificate (it needs to be lodged with the department of transport) stating you are OK to drive for the class of licence you are applying for before starting any training. (i.e MR, HR etc):

  • blackouts
  • diabetes
  • eye or vision problems
  • heart disease
  • neurological—dementia, stroke, seizures or epilepsy
  • psychiatric disorders
  • sleep disorders
  • alcohol or drug dependency..

Licence in a Day Course, includes:
– 3hrs driver training in test area prior to driving test
– 1hr practical driving test with Qld Transport
– Qld booking fee		 $635 ($200 deposit required on booking)
Lessons (7 days a week 6:00am–5:00pm) 1hr (minimum) – $140
Lessons (7 days a week 6:00am–5:00pm) 2hrs – $280
Re-test, includes:
– 1hr driving in test area prior to driving test
– 30 min practical driving test with Qld Transport + 15min debrief
– Qld booking fee		 $300
