Skid Steer training is run both locally in Cairns and in remote locations. The Cairns-based course involves a theory component conducted at our training centre in Cairns, with practical component and assessment conducted at our training site at Freshwater.

Course outline

This nationally recognised training course gives participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently operate a Skid Steer Loader and work in a range of different working environments.

• Legislations and standards applicable to operating a Skid Steer Loader (bobcat)
• Risk management, control procedures & prepare for Skid Steer Loader operations (bobcat)
• Drive and operate Skid Steer Loader, and modify the operating technique to meet changing work conditions
• Select, remove and fit attachments
• Relocate the Skid Steer Loader (bobcat)
• Carry out machine operator maintenance
• Conduct house keeping
• Assessment type: Theory and Practical
• On successfully completion of being deemed competent you will receive a statement of attainment and a plastic industry wallet card issued by QTLT RTO 40931

A short literacy and numeracy test will be required

Prerequisites

Participates must be:

• Minimum of 17 years of age to sit the assessment
• Proficient in English
